The furthest I had run up until nine months ago was 9km, and that was only because I got lost. Without training with DC Run I would not have recently finished the Barcelona Marathon, injury free.
I had been a casual jogger for decades but as I upped my distances to get a bit fitter and shed some weight I started getting nagging injuries. I needed help. With DC Run I changed my technique through one-on-one coaching. The change was then reinforced by the Run Squad sessions, which also boosted my strength, endurance and speed.
Since that change in technique all my injuries have gone away, I’m enjoying running more than ever, and I’m pleased (and relieved) to have run a marathon in around four hours.Guy Templeton, COO
Thank you for the excellent work in setting up the City to Surf run programs for PwC. I have been very impressed with the level of professionalism that you and your team has show and all the feedback from the running groups has been brilliant!
The small group approach paired with the individual running programs really sets you apart. All of the people doing the programs really value the one on one time that they get from your coaches during the weekly sessions and the individual week to week programs have provided great structure for their training (I always know the days when the groups train as they come back into the office buzzing with all the new running tips they have got from the coaches!!).
Everyone keeps talking about how they are learning to run again and learning to love running!!Gareth Rydon, Management Consultant, PwC
This morning we had our last run training session with Vic Mitchell from DC Run and I was looking forward to the time trial and hopefully beating my past result.
During our third session with Vic we ran a 2 km time trial and I got a time of 8:17 which I was very happy with at the time. Most of my runs are a LOT slower than that but mainly because I have been running for distance and not time in my training runs.
Today I got a time of 7:56 which means I’ve cut a whopping 21 seconds from this distance. Needless to say I am very chuffed to have had such a positive result and I will definitely be looking to get some more technique training from Vic in the future.
My goal after the marathon is to improve my efficiency by improving my running technique and doing much shorter races to implement this. I’m sure this will be a long, slow process but it will be much better for me in the long run (no pun intended) as I want to be able to run forever!
So a big thank you to Vic for the early morning sessions and David from DC Run for organising our group. I highly recommend you contact these guys if you want to improve your running and live in the Sydney area.Hailey Napper, PwC
My goal when I started training with DC Run was to learn to run properly. I hadn’t been able to run for many years thanks to an old back injury and I feared that running wasn’t going to be for me.
I have been training with DC Run now for four months. I am able to run and train consistently without pain and with real results in improved fitness and strength. They have even given me the confidence to enter the Sydney Half Marathon in May.
Their attention to detail and ability to motivate you to train your hardest in each session have made all the difference to my training and results. Thank you!Kirsten Highnam, Mother of Five
I started Training with DC Run at the beginning of October 2012. My fitness levels were very low and my body strength was weak.
After 5 months of running and gym work, I can run twice as far as I used to be able to. My core and body strength have improved dramatically. I used to feel structurally weak on a daily basis but now feel strong in my whole body, which in turn has helped to strengthen my mind.
We have done a lot of running specific, body resistance training, which has helped to give me an overall sense of wellbeing. The bonus with DC Run is that the one on one personal mentoring throughout the training journey is what makes you want to achieve the goals they set with you.Nicolas Haywood, Jewellery Concierge
“After developing painful knee problems some years back, I’d stopped running completely and gradually lost interest in the sport. When David introduced running into my fitness programme, I felt apprehensive and uncertain if it was going to be the most suitable workout for me. I was nevertheless curious to give it a go, as it’d been years since I last ran and just thought I might as well
Two months into training with David and I really cannot be in better hands. He has made the whole task seem easier and more possible. I am now able to run more comfortably and with more confidence, thanks to David’s knowledgeable and detailed form of training.
He has identified weaknesses in my technique and addressed them by coming up with specific drills for me to practise. What’s more, this diagnose-and-fix process hasn’t just taken place in our first couple of sessions, it has been on-going, which makes my progress continual and helps keep check of the parts I’ve improved on.
David’s focus on technique is however never tedious. I guess it is because he never lets drills replace running itself. In fact, what’s most effective about his approach is his own love for the sport. It comes across whenever you’re training or just having a chat with him. No need for the Commando’s belting or nagging tactics, David inspires, and is all you’ll need to help you find that extra spring in your step.”Luk Khor, Masters Student
“When I started with DC Run, I was suffering from a long-standing Achilles problem and concluded that my running days were over. This was fixed within 3 months and I’m now up and running regularly again.
The inspiration and confidence I have gained has been a genuine game changer. I even found myself out running on Christmas morning! A brilliant training experience and highly recommended. Thank you!”Danielle Mulder, Consulting Director
